2021-22 Learning

School Building Reopening

We are planning for a full reopening of all schools PreK through grade 12 in September 2021.

We will provide in-person instruction five days a week for grades K through 12. PreK will be four days, 2.5 hours a day. Elementary and secondary schools will be full school days. See in-person school hours.

We will continue to adhere to public health guidance on distancing, masks and other safety measures. We will use three-foot spacing between students and six-foot spacing for adults to the extent possible, as recommended by the state school superintendent (OSPI) and the Washington State Department of Health.

Families who choose not to send their students for in-person school due to family health issues have remote learning option.

staff safety

We value our Highline employees, and the safety of our staff is a priority. We will follow public health guidelines for everyone’s health and safety.

All staff will receive training in COVID safety protocols and use of PPE. All required PPE will be provided to staff, based on their specific duties. All staff and students will be required to wear a mask or face covering.

Vaccines

The state requires all school staff to be vaccinated as a condition of employment. Highline staff must provide proof of vaccination, or a medical or religious exemption, by October 18, 2021.

The Washington State Department of Health determines which vaccinations are required for students in schools. At this time, COVID vaccines are not required for students but are strongly encouraged.

Leaves and accommodations

If you have a health condition or other risk factor that limits your ability to return to your worksite, please contact HR to apply for an accommodation or a leave.
