School Mission
Vision
We affirm the identities of all students and staff in school to ignite critical consciousness so that students will be agents of change to create an equitable world they deserve.
We empower students with rigorous bilingual and biliterate instruction to elevate students' multicultural power in order to identify as capable and confident learners to create the futures they choose.
We ensure a school culture focused on Social Emotional well-being so that our community can promote wellness practices that support our mental and physical health.
Mission
At Hilltop, We affirm student’s identities by building authentic relationships and incorporating social justice standards into instruction so that students can experience culturally responsive pedagogy and interact with culturally relevant curriculum and resources.
We collaborate within professional learning communities (PLCs) and plan purposefully with essential standards and reliable data and assessment to create common biliteracy unit frameworks that promote vertical alignment through the development of learning progressions that make learning visible to students. We provide effective and comprehensible instruction using GLAD strategies, a commitment to accessing funds of knowledge, and universal design for learning.
At Hilltop Elementary, we are committed to building authentic relationships within our community through family engagement and positive classroom culture. Classroom Culture is nurtured and developed through class meetings, non-violent communication, and the utilization of Social Emotional Curriculums RULER and Second Step. Students are supported through a robust multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) that strives to honor the whole-child, and through direct instruction of Learning Dispositions.
