We miss your students and hope that you are staying healthy. We know that these are difficult times for families; please know that our staff is here to support you. I want to express our solidarity with families are struggling through this time of school closure as well as those of us who live fear of racial brutality or discrimination. Now is the time for unity and understanding! Staff in Highline Public Schools and at Hilltop are incorporating materials to help support student understanding of current events with the knowledge that families are our students first and best teachers. Even though your students are young, it’s appropriate to talk to them about race and racism. Here is a link to a resource to support you in a conversation about race with your child. I’ve also included a document with suggestions to help start conversations about race equity that I hope you will find helpful.
At Hilltop we’ve been busy planning curriculum, connecting with families and students, developing a new report card for the work during closure, collaborating as teaching teams, pursuing professional development, and working to provide relevant learning opportunities for our amazing students. We know you’ve been busy, too and appreciate your teamwork in supporting your child’s learning. Highline Schools will continue to share information to you about our tentative plans for the fall and will continue to adjust based on state guidelines.
Principal Roundtable Zoom
To help wrap up the year on Tuesday June 16th I will host a round table discussion from 3:00pm to 4:00. All are welcome to join on zoom to discuss a wide range of topics. While Highline is still in initial planning phases for school next fall, I’d love to get your reflections on distance learning and hear your thoughts and ideas for the fall. School Items Pick Up and Drop Off
While maintaining social distancing, families who have the need will be able to drive through Hilltop’s parking lot, remain in their vehicles and receive drive up service. Families may also be served in walk up line as well. Staff will be available to server you by collecting any drop off items you may have and provide you with available student items. Staff will be are expected to follow all safety guidelines including wearing face masks, gloves and working to maintain a 6 foot social distance.
We have created a schedule for you that allows you to come and pick up any items that may still be at school and to drop off school items. Check with your student’s teacher if you are unsure if your student has any important items left in the classroom. It may not be necessary for every family to return during this time. Teachers have been asked to share this information as well.
We will distribute:
· Any personal items left in the classroom (to the best of our ability)
· New books for grades K-2
We will be collecting:
· Library Books
· Musical Instruments
· Laptops – Note* You are encouraged to keep them over the summer for continued learning. However, if you are planning on moving before our planned computer collection time in early September please consider returning them along with the charger at this time.

Note: Days by last name are a suggestion only. You are welcome to choose a time that works for you. As you drive in, please remain in your vehicle and we will have a runner get your child/children’s things and collect anything you are dropping off in separate bags.

Dejar/Recoger materiales
Mientras mantienen el distanciamiento social, las familias que tienen transporte, ingresarán por el estacionamiento de HIlltop, estarán en sus carros y recibirán ayuda. Familias también pueden ser servidas si llegan caminando a la escuela, habrá una fila para esperar y alguien estará disponible para ayudarles. El personal estará disponible para recibir cualquier artículo de entrega que pueda tener y proporcionarle los artículos disponibles de su hijo/a. Es necesario que el personal siga todas las pautas de seguridad, incluyendo el uso de máscaras faciales, guantes y mantener una distancia de 6 pies.
Hemos creado un horario para usted que le permite venir a recoger artículos personales que todavía pueda estar en la escuela y entregar artículos de la escuela.
