Do Property Values Affect the Bond Amount? No.
Explaining the cost of the bond can be tricky. Here are two things you need to know about what homeowners will pay for Proposition 1: the Highline Schools Bond on November 8 ballots.
- The dollar amount paid by most property owners to Highline Public Schools will stay stable due to expiring local school taxes—regardless of changes in property values.
- Fluctuations in property values do NOT affect the dollar amount a homeowner will pay for the bond or the total amount of the bond.
The 2022 school construction bond would build new schools for Evergreen, Tyee and Pacific students and staff, and raise funds for critical repairs and upgrades across the district, if approved.
Although the designs for Evergreen, Tyee and Pacific were funded by the 2016 bond and are nearly complete, these schools will not be built unless 60 percent of voters approve a bond to rebuild them.
