Highlights for 2017-18

  • Our teachers focused on building strong knowledge of the Common Core State Standards in order to prepare intentional math and literacy instruction to ensure that we are working towards students gaining skills needed for the 21st Century.
  • To support students’ ability to take ownership of their learning, our staff created and will share learning dispositions to empower students in knowing where they are in their learning, advocating for their needs in moving forward and developing a growth mindset.
  • Our Dual Language program expanded this year to second grade as we continue to create an opportunity for all students in becoming bilingual and biliterate. Our Dual Language program will continue to expand next year to third grade.
  • Our partnership with outside agencies such as Seatac United supported the implementation of an after school chess club for intermediate students and Boulevard Park Presbyterian church to build reading partners, as we build relationships with others.  We partnered with Techbridge to offer after school technology club for 5th and 6th grade girls.
  • Our efforts continued to build emotionally strong students, continued as all staff implemented and partnered with Second Step, a social-emotional program, supporting students in generalizing skills and strategies to day to day life situations, focusing on recess time specifically.
  • Our efforts to engage families continued with Families Working Together meetings in our primary grades to identify student learning goals and student progression towards those goals. These events were held in addition to unity building family events held routinely through the school year.
  • We created a strong system for data review of all students to support individualized growth and supports through the year for every student.
  • We are committed to share in the joys of learning. We will continue to build a positive school culture in which students and community are respected valued and appreciated for their strengths and supports are in place for areas of focus.
